Losing weight and getting healthy has always been something I desire; but has also been something that seems impossible to achieve.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been plump. While I’ve always had a nice body, my short stature made sure that I was always thick. After the birth of my son in 2005, I began gaining weight at an alarming rate. To this day, 13 years later, I’m still struggling to get rid of the excess weight.
Additionally, a little over a year ago, I was diagnosed as hypertensive and placed on medication. It’s my desire to eventually get of the meds, and I know I can only do that by controlling my diet.
I’ve done numerous diets, used countless weight loss products, guilted myself to no end, but I still continue to struggle.
Over time, I’ve come to realize that regardless of the fact that I know I need to lose the weight, there are a few things that I must do and recognize;
- I’ve got to love myself just as I am.
- I did not gain the weight overnight, and I’m sure as heck not going to lose it overnight.
- It’s important to my lifestyle choices overtime that can last a life a lifetime.
- Yoyo dieting does not work; and that weight loss products can only do so much.
As a result, I’ve resolved to slowly incorporate small changes in my day to day life that will eventually lead to big results.
Hence this blog.
I’ve started this blog to not only document my journey, share my struggles, share and celebrate my successes and wins; but to also connect with others in similar situations, to encourage and motivate others, share recipes, tips and tricks that have helped me on my journey; and hopefully impact at least one life.
So, if you or someone you know is going through something similar, or have succeeded in winning the weight loss battle, then I want to hear from you.
Tell us what you are doing, what has worked for you and what hasn’t.
Looking forward to winning the weight loss battle together.
To your success and mine.
